Is a SIM5216A shield powered by the Uno R3

Is a SIM5216A shield powered by the Uno R3 that I connect it to, or does it require auxiliary power? If the SIM5216A shield is powered by the Uno R3, does it matter if I power the Uno R3 with 7v or 12v?

I'm not sure about the Uno R3, but with the leonardo I can power the shield from the leonardo 5v pin and ground pin.  It works with any supply voltage from 5v to 12v (I havent tried any lower than 12v).
