I've always clicked on the open source for the PCB I've made. In the past I used to receive all kind of boards made by other people and it was always interesting to guess what they were doing and sometimes I've used some of the footprints found on these boards to quickly prototype something. So in one word they were useful. Lately, for the last half year or so I am always receiving the same credit card size demo PCB of ITEAD which have no use and go directly to the bin. If this doesn't change I will stop open sourcing my design just to stop receiving these extra PCBs which will end as landfill garbage.
We are looking for some kind of new interesting projects. They should be put into production this month.
